What is Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)?
HLA is a tissue type protein found on all cells in our body and is produced from the bone marrow.

What if HLA doesn’t match?
In case the HLA of two persons do not match then doctors do not go for a transplant. It can be highly dangerous as the recipient body will then refuse the unmatched HLA.

Can a sibling become a donor?
Yes, anyone who’s HLA is matches with that of a donor can become a donor.

What is the matching criterion for HLA?
A 50% or more matches is considered ideal for donation.
